Cycling in South Thailand

South Thailand it took me 18 days, nice people, good whether and roads. I started my cycling on 18-12-03 in Kayu Itam a border town in Malaysia. I stamp my documents and and put up a night in Danok. Is border town, night life here is great. The next day I ride to Songkla about 80 km. This is my first stop. I stay in a reasonable hotel near the samila beach. The hotel manager is a nice guy gave me some good maps. The next days it was raining heavily in the morning so I had to stay a day more in Sangkla.I did a bit of tour around the little known town. Date-19 and 20.12.03

Date - 21.12.03 - Sunday - The next day wake up at 8am and it was still raining. The rain stop at 9am, I cycle to Sating Pra  took a small ferry cross the river .As travel I saw many big Buddhism temples and the scenery are very beautiful. First time in life I feel very happy. I took many pictures as ride alone the costal road. Anyway I can put in word how wonderful it was, cause my English and stroies writings are not good. Sorry for any mistake in all my pages.

On the way to Nakon Sithamarat                      Good local fruit stall along the road

Date- 22.12 03 -  Monday -  Nakon is a big town and with tall buildings the traffic was very heavy. I stay in a guest room for $10 a night. During the night I went to some shopping complex's near by the guesthouse. I wake up at 7am, the weather was fine and the roads are great. While I was cycling some thing attracts me, from the back it look like a Ganes statue (one of the Indian Gods.) I stop and it was in the school compound, I walk in the and saw a big Ganes statue decorated with beautifully with flowers. School children passing by pray before they enter the school. What surprised me this that as a Malaysian Hindu I never seen a big Ganes statue in any Hindu temple or in the school.

Date - 23.12.03 - Monday - As usual wake up at 7pm state cycling to Danot a ferry terminal to Ko Somui. On the way met some nice people offering coconut water. I wish I would speak Thai. I stop in a shop in between Danot  to have my tea break. Met some people but could not talk, I have to use sign language. Getting dark I rush to the ferry terminal and took the last ferry to Ko Somui

As I reach the hotel, it was nice but expensive so I ask the caretaker is there any cheap hotel. One of the ladies said there is one opposite. Ok at last I got one guest house for $10. The manager was a nice guy very helpfull. I had some beers and dinner with him.
